Innovative Case

An audience listens to you. A community talks to each other. That difference determines almost everything about how you should run it, and most brand communities fail because they were built as broadcast channels with a comment section attached.
The first hundred members set the culture permanently. If early conversation is dominated by promotional posts from the brand, that becomes the norm and genuine discussion never starts.
If the brand stops posting and the community goes quiet, it was never a community.
This is slow work. A community that takes a year to reach three hundred active members is generally healthier than one that reaches five thousand inactive ones in a month.
Moderation is the product. Clear rules, applied consistently and visibly, are what make people comfortable enough to contribute something other than praise.

These factors separate communities that survive their first year from those that quietly empty out.
